The Guidiville Indian Rancheria, a federally recognized Pomo Tribe based in Mendocino County, California, is set to take a major step toward energy sovereignty with the installation of a solar/hydrogen microgrid, with the support of Colusa Indian Energy.

Colusa Indian Energy, a leading advocate for Tribal energy sovereignty, is proud to be a part of this initiative alongside its partners to deploy solar PV in combination with Harnyss’ Oasis microgrid solution, which integrates long-duration energy storage with on-site hydrogen production. The microgrid will be paired with solar power, creating a resilient, cost-effective, and carbon-free energy system for the Guidiville tribe.
As part of its commitment to empowering Native nations with non-grid-reliant energy solutions, Colusa Indian Energy has joined a coalition of key players, including Emtel Energy USA, Timberline Renewable Solutions, and Green-World Renewables, to support the Guidiville project.
“Colusa Indian Energy is proud to stand alongside the Guidiville Indian Rancheria and Timberline Renewable Solutions in advancing energy sovereignty through innovative solutions like solar/hydrogen microgrids. This is a defining moment for energy independence for the Tribe,” said Ken Ahmann, COO of Colusa Indian Energy.
The Oasis microgrid, developed by Texas-based Harnyss, is a "microgrid in a box" housed in 20- to 40-foot containers, offering off-grid charging capabilities—including for electric vehicles. Designed for remote Tribal lands, this system ensures long-duration backup power while reducing dependence on traditional utilities.
A New Era for Tribal Energy Independence
With its extensive expertise in Tribal energy developments, Colusa Indian Energy continues to drive high-impact projects that position Native nations at the forefront of the energy transition. The Guidiville microgrid is part of a broader effort to expand renewable energy infrastructure across Tribal lands—creating reliable, cost-effective power that reinforces Tribal sovereignty.
The Guidiville Indian Rancheria, which received its federal recognition in 1992 and is headquartered in the Ukiah Valley, is taking a bold step toward energy resilience with this cutting-edge solar/hydrogen microgrid deployment.
With the help of Timberline Renewable Solutions, Colusa Indian Energy, and others, the Tribe is paving the way for other Native nations to embrace next-generation energy solutions, ensuring a sustainable and self-sufficient future.
